CYTOLOGY

Cytology is the study of cells, the smallest units of life. It involves observing, measuring, and interpreting structure and function of cells both in vivo (in a living organism) and in vitro (in a laboratory setting). Cytology helps us better understand how cells interact and how diseases develop. It is a crucial area of investigation in many medical and scientific disciplines, including cancer research, stem cell research, and epidemiology. By studying cytology, we can gain in-depth knowledge on cellular processes as well as detect changes in individual cells or tissues, which can be used to diagnose and treat diseases. Additionally, it can be used to identify new therapeutic targets and to assess drug efficacy.
