Cytologic Evaluation
Cytologic evaluation is the microscopic study of cells, and is used to identify changes at the cellular level. It is a common technique used in medical diagnosis and is important in the detection of cancer and infectious diseases. It is a minimally invasive and cost-effective diagnostic tool. In cytologic evaluation, cells are collected from various sources such as blood, urine, sputum, and tissue samples and are then examined under a microscope and evaluated for any changes in their morphology, size, and structure. The results of a cytologic evaluation can permit the early detection of disease, provide crucial diagnostic information for cancer, and lead to a more accurate treatment plan.
