Chemokines
Chemokines are small proteins that play a significant role in the regulation of the immune system. They act as signaling molecules, recruiting white blood cells to the sites of inflammation and infection. Chemokines also control the migration of cells and slow down the progression of disease. Due to their role in the immune system, chemokines are increasingly being investigated as possible targets for therapeutic interventions in a variety of conditions, including cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune disorders, and inflammation. Research into chemokines has the potential to provide new treatments, as well as to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of action of various diseases.
