ADHD Diagnosis
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulty regulating attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. It is typically diagnosed in children between the ages of 3-17 and is one of the most commonly diagnosed mental health disorders in children and adolescents. ADHD Diagnosis involves an assessment of a child’s symptoms, family and medical history, and educational and social functioning. Assessment tools include parent and teacher questionnaires, standardized tests, and clinical interviews. A proper diagnosis of ADHD is important in order to access appropriate treatments, such as behavior therapy, medication, or a combination of the two. These treatments can help those living with ADHD succeed in school, relationships, and daily life.
