Trauma

Informed Care Trauma Informed Care (TIC) is an evidence-based practice that focuses on reducing the impact of trauma in individuals, families, and communities. It is based on principles of understanding traumatic events and responding in ways that reduce re-traumatization. TIC utilizes an individualized, strengths-based, and holistic approach to address the needs of individuals, families, and communities affected by trauma. It empowers individuals to recognize their strengths and take back control of their own healing process. TIC has been increasingly used in mental health, education, social service, and criminal justice settings to effectively address the needs of trauma survivors. As such, it is an important approach for organizations and practitioners to understand in order to effectively serve individuals and communities affected by trauma.
