Technology Addiction

Technology addiction is defined as a person’s obsessive use of technology, to the point of adverse consequences in their daily life. It is characterized by an inability to restrain from the use of technology despite knowing the potential dangers and its negative impact on their physical, emotional, and social health. People with technology addiction may use their devices compulsively, make significant changes to their lifestyle to accommodate their addiction, and may experience withdrawal symptoms when not using technology. Technology addiction can have serious consequences, leading to decreased productivity, depression, social isolation, sleep deprivation, and even physical health issues such as eye strain, back problems, and obesity. The most effective way to address technology addiction is to increase awareness and understanding of the risks and consequences, and create strategies to minimize these risks. For example, setting limits on device usage, creating digital detox plans, and encouraging healthier internet habits can help manage and prevent technology addiction.
