Smoking Related Disorders
Smoking related disorders refer to the various health conditions caused by smoking. These include the development of various forms of cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, cardiovascular issues, and stroke. Additionally, smoking can negatively affect the immune system, resulting in increased susceptibility to infections and illnesses, as well as an increased risk of developing dementia, infant mortality, and an increased risk of developing coronary artery disease. Furthermore, smoking is also linked to complications for unborn babies if the mother smokes during pregnancy such as premature births, stillbirths, and developmental defects. Given the devastating health effects of smoking, it is important to understand the various smoking related disorders, its signs and symptoms, and how to manage them. Efforts to reduce smoking must be taken in order to prevent the onset of smoking related diseases and disorders. In addition to engaging in evidence-based smoking cessation treatments and interventions, education and awareness raising is also important in reducing smoking related disorders.
