Shopping Addiction

Shopping addiction is a behavioral disorder characterized by compulsive buying behavior. People with this disorder experience obsessions to go out shopping, spending excessive amounts of time or money, and engage in shopping as a way to cope with difficult emotions. Shopping addiction can negatively impact a person's finances, employment, relationships, self-esteem and mental health. Treatment for this condition typically involves a combination of cognitive behavior therapy, life-skills training, and self-monitoring of shopping habits. With proper diagnosis and treatment, people with shopping addiction can learn how to manage their impulses and live a healthier, more balanced life.
