Munchausen Syndrome
Munchausen Syndrome is a mental disorder in which individuals deliberately cause or exaggerate their own physical or psychological symptoms in order to receive attention from doctors, medical personnel and/or family members. This disorder is highly dangerous, as individuals may subject themselves to risk of harm to gain attention from others. It can be difficult to diagnose, and early diagnosis and treatment are important for successful management of the condition. Treatment typically includes psychotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Munchausen Syndrome is important to be aware of, as it can cause individuals to unknowingly put their health at risk.
