Internet Addiction

Internet addiction is an impulse control disorder in which a person excessively uses the internet to the detriment of their everyday life. It is characterized by frequent internet use, a feeling of mood modification while using the internet, and difficulty controlling their internet usage. Internet addiction is most commonly associated with activities such as online gaming, gambling, shopping, excessive use of social media or pornography, and viewing of videos. It is becoming increasingly common, especially among adolescents and young adults, due to its easy accessibility and potential to cause distraction. It can lead to mental and physical health issues, social isolation, and increased financial debts. It is important to practice good digital hygiene, to help manage or reduce internet addiction or other problematic internet use.
