Drug Overdose
Drug overdose is an unintentional and potentially deadly consequence of taking too much of a drug or combining several drugs. Drug overdoses can cause severe organ damage, brain damage, coma, and even death. Drug overdoses occur most often in individuals with substance use disorders, though any person can be at risk. Drug overdose is a major public health issue due to its scope and associated costs. Prevention strategies, including increased education and screening, are key to reducing drug overdoses in our society.
