Dopamine

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter and hormone found in the brain that is responsible for regulating various brain and body functions, such as reward-seeking, emotion, movement and attention. It is also involved in regulating mood and the associated reward circuits, which has implications in the development of psychiatric disorders such as depression, schizophrenia and addiction. Dopamine is associated with feelings of pleasure and reward, and is released in response to situations and activities that are pleasurable, reinforcing the behaviour. It is also thought to improve learning and memory, and is associated with motivation, focus, and the feeling of achieving something rewarding.
