Computer Addiction

Computer Addiction is a behavioural disorder, characterized by an individual's excessive and compulsive use of computers and digital media that negatively affects their everyday life. Symptoms of computer addiction include excessive time spent on the computer, lack of control over computer use, difficulty in completing tasks, preoccupation with online activities, social isolation, sleep deprivation, and irritability when away from the computer. Computer Addiction has been shown to interfere with work and academic performance, interpersonal relationships, and recreational activities. Treatment of computer addiction usually involves cognitive behavioural therapy and support groups. Awareness of the risks of computer addiction is an important part of prevention.
