Codependency (psychology)

Codependency is a type of psychologically unhealthy relationship characterized by excessive reliance on the other person for emotional support and personal identity. This reliance often results in feelings of insecurity, isolation, and dysfunctional communication. Codependency can be seen in relationships between family members, friends, and intimate partners. It is often seen as a contributing factor to relationship problems such as domestic violence, controlling behavior, and addiction. Understanding codependency and learning how to manage it can help to develop healthier relationships and improve one's overall wellbeing.
