Behavioral Addictions

Behavioral addictions are mental health disorders characterized by an uncontrollable urge to engage in specific behaviors, such as gambling, sex, shopping, or even internet usage. This type of addiction is associated with negative consequences, such as impaired relationships, work, and financial problems. Improving our understanding of this disorder is essential for developing effective treatment strategies and transitioning individuals back to a healthy lifestyle. Behavioral addictions can be treated with psychotherapy, medications, and lifestyle changes, such as establishing healthy habits, mindfulness, and avoiding triggers.
