Autism

Autism is a neurological disorder characterized by impaired communication and social interaction, and restricted or repetitive behaviors. It is also associated with learning difficulties and mental health issues. It is estimated to affect 1 in 59 people, making it one of the most common developmental disabilities. Early intervention is essential to help those with autism reach their fullest potential. Treatment primarily involves behavior and communication therapy and the use of social skills training, psychotropic medications, and physical, speech, and occupational therapies. It is important to recognize that autism is a spectrum disorder and people with autism vary widely in their needs and abilities.
