Addictive Disorders
Addictive disorders refer to a group of mental health conditions associated with the abuse of a substance or engagement in a behavior that has a detrimental effect on an individual’s life. These disorders are characterized by the inability to stop or control the substance or behavior, despite the presence of negative consequences. Common addictive behaviors include gambling, alcohol and drug abuse, and kleptomania. Addictive disorders can have a significant impact on a person’s physical and mental health, as well as their relationships and quality of life. Treatment typically involves psychotherapy, medication, support groups, and lifestyle changes. Early diagnosis and intervention of addictive behavior is important in order to reduce the risk of long-term damage.
