Aims and Scope

International Journal of Thorax is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that covers a wide range of topics in the fields of pulmonary medicine, and thoracic imaging. It offers an international forum for the dissemination of clinical and scientific knowledge in the fields of thoracic research, including both clinical and experimental aspects, with an emphasis on clinical results that are applicable to the practice of thoracic care and therapeutic endoscopy, including interventional pulmonology, thoracic oncology, and thoracic organ transplantation.

International Journal of Thorax covering all aspects of thoracic diseases. This journal emphasizes evidence-based medical research related to cardiopulmonary diseases, respiratory tract diseases, sleep disorders, respiratory diseases, and other topics related to the thorax.

We promote interdisciplinary scientific advances by publishing contributions from authors in diverse fields including epidemiology, pulmonary medicine, endocrinology, pharmacology, pathology, and more. It strives to provide readers with a detailed analysis of current research in the field of thoracic medicine and its related disciplines, including interventional pulmonology, thoracic oncology, and thoracic organ transplantation. It also offers a platform for those pursuing advanced degrees in thoracic surgery and research, as well as providing a forum for the exchange of critical knowledge.

The primary aim of the International Journal of Thorax (IJT) is to promote awareness of advances in the fields of the thorax and related disciplines. The journal publishes papers on the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of thoracic diseases, as well as surgical and non-surgical therapeutic modalities. The journal also provides a platform for research on medical device design, medical robotics, medical imaging, management of thoracic trauma, thoracic infection, diseases of the lungs, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, chest drainage, chest wall tumors, and pectus excavatum. Additionally, IJT also covers neurology topics related to the thorax, such as disease of the phrenic nerve, tumors of the thoracic region and thoracic aortic aneurysms, and the latest developments in thoracic medicine, cardiovascular physiology and pathology, respiratory biology, cardiovascular medicine, pulmonary transplantation physiology, interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging and radiotherapy, thoracic oncology, pulmonology, and pneumology, including interventional pulmonology, thoracic oncology, and thoracic organ transplantation.

The journal actively encourages the submission of manuscripts from worldwide authors and seeks to encourage collaboration across disciplines.
